We’ve lived with California Classics Vittoria engineered hardwood floors for 3 years—here’s my honest review on durability, cleaning, and how they’ve held up with kids and dogs.

Let’s talk about floors—because this is one of the most asked-about things in our home. After living with our California Classics Vittoria floors for over three years, I’m sharing everything: how they’ve held up, how we clean them, and if I’d use them again (spoiler: absolutely yes). We have them throughout most of our home and they’ve been amazing with kids, dogs, and Colorado’s dry climate.

Quick Facts

  • Flooring Brand: California Classics
  • Collection: Mediterranean
  • Color: Vittoria
  • Type: Engineered hardwood
  • Used In: Main level + upstairs (not basement)
  • Lived With: 2 kids, 3 dogs
  • Climate: Colorado (dry)
  • Time in Home: 3 years

Why We Chose These Floors

We originally picked something else, but after our builder had major issues with that floor on another project, he gave us a heads-up. He had used the California Classics Mediterranean Collection in several homes and couldn’t recommend it enough. Once we saw it in person, we knew it was the one.

Where We Used Them

We put these floors throughout our home except the basement. So they’ve seen all the daily wear—kids running, dogs playing, chairs moving. They’ve been through it all.

Durability: Kids + Pets Approved

We’ve had up to three dogs at one time, including a wild 60-pound Bernedoodle puppy and a Belgian Malinois. Our two boys are constantly running, playing, tossing balls—you name it. And after three years? These floors still look amazing. We do expect our dogs to not be crazy in the house though. So that helps.

Kitchen Sources | My Favorite Dog Food Bin

Sure, we’ve had a chair lose a felt pad here and there, and yes, it’s left a scratch. But one of the best things about these floors is how the scratches fade naturally over time—they blend right in. Way different than LVP, where a scratch just… stays.

Maintenance + Cleaning Routine

Living in dry Colorado, we weren’t sure how engineered hardwood would hold up—but it’s been so easy.

Here’s what we do:

Bonus: this color hides dirt so well. I don’t feel like I’m constantly cleaning just to make them look good.

How They Feel Underfoot

One thing I didn’t realize I’d love so much is how they feel. There’s a solid, natural feel to them that’s totally different from LVP or laminate. It just feels high-quality.

Luxury + Livability

There’s something about the warmth and luxury of real wood that just can’t be beat. The look is timeless, but it’s the feel and livability that make the biggest difference for us. It’s safe to say I couldn’t live in a house without wood floors. They elevate the entire space while still being incredibly practical for real life with kids and pets. It’s that sweet spot between cozy and elevated—and I’m obsessed.

I haven’t used a filter on these photos so you can see the true color as accurately as possible. That said, I always recommend ordering a sample and testing it in different rooms throughout your home before making a final decision.

Final Thoughts

I wanted to give you a thoughtful and honest engineered hardwood review. Three years in and I’m still fully obsessed. These floors have held up incredibly well, they’re beautiful, easy to care for, and I’d absolutely choose them again in a future build.

Here are the products we use and love:

Hope this helps if you’re considering these floors or just love a good real-life review. Let me know if you have any questions—and see you next time!
